RealVideo:
(General Issues)
Older versions of Real Player may report a media incompatibility. Please download the latest version of Real Player to view the clips. Real Player Basic is available for free from Real Networks.
As RealVideo is a streaming format, your internet connection must be able to maintain an appropriate transfer speed for the clip you selected. In cases of poor perforance, try again and select a lower bandwidth clip. Please see below for more information.
Internet Connection Speeds, Streaming and Downloading
(media pauses or stutters)
Our Quicktime media clips generally use a process called "progressive download." Your computer will being playing before the entire clip is downloaded, but after enough has been downloaded to reach the end without pausing. If you have a slower Internet connection or are experiences congestion, the clip may pause or stutter. In this case, allow the clip to download completely, so that the progress bar has reached all the way to the right. Now the clip is downloaded you should be able to play the clip in its entirety.

Our RealVideo clips use video streaming. They play directly over the internet without downloading first. Your Internet connection must be fast enough to receive the stream you have selected. Your computer must be fast enough to decode the video information and display it as it arrives.
In some cases we have provided a smaller or larger version of a clip. The larger sizes are best quality and work better for broadband users. The smaller sizes are more convenient and work better for modem users. If the download of the larger sized clip is unreliable or takes too long over your connection, you might like to try the smaller version.
Other Performance Issues
(dropped frames, jerky video)
Sometimes playback problems are not caused by your Internet connection, but by your computer's inability to display video quickly. In general, the higher the quality of the media clip, the more processing power your computer needs to display it.
If you are experiencing performance problems that relate to your computer, you are probably experiencing them on many web sites, not just this one.
There are some simple upgrades that may help improve the performance of your computer. Adding more ore RAM can dramatically improve your computer's performance. For graphics applications, such as streaming video or games, there are a number of relatively cheap video cards on the market that can also help improve performance. Another alternative is to upgrade your CPU or video RAM, but this may be more expensive without yielding significant results.
