The Parenting Principle is a film detailing the critical role that parents play in providing their children the support and supervision necessary to become productive members of society. New research indicates that there are many things a parent can do, from the very beginning, that will enhance their child's ability to learn and interact well with others. The Parenting Principle will discuss these new techniques and show parents how and why to implement them in their child's lives. Time and attention is the responsibility of the parent and is critical during these crucial developmental stages of 1 - 3 years old.
The Parenting Principle explores the importance and necessity of establishing values in children. Georgia Governor (1991 - 1998) Zell Miller's book, Corps Values, is the roadmap for this segment. The influence of faith on behavior of children is also explored. What role does faith play is raising a child? Why do children who regularly attend church tend to make better grades and get into less trouble? We hear from community and religious leaders who claim to know the answers.
The modern influences on our children are significant and need to be monitored closely. How can the parent compete with all the other negative influences that society has to offer? Parents must accept the responsibility of knowing what these influences are and know to combat them. The Parenting Principle explores this issue and provides guidance.
The family structure in the United States has long been under assault by divorce, teen pregnancy and abandonment. Fathers in particular are not accepting the responsibility of parenthood. The Parenting Principle introduces viewers to National Father of the Year (1998) and show the steps he is taking to help other fathers in his community fulfill the responsibility of fatherhood. The film also explores the effect divorce is having upon the American family.
The Parenting Principle is about responsibility - the responsibility that every parent has once they decide to bring a child into the world. The Parenting Principle is about the time and love that is required to give children the direction they need and desire. The goal of the film is to inspire dialogue, action and desire on behalf of parents to become the primary influence in their child's life. If a parent takes the time and accepts the responsibility of parenthood, the rewards and significant, the implications and enormous and the results can cause momentous positive change for society.
